My last two purchases have been laptops. With a 16 inch screen, 60 gig hard drive and P4 processor, it is hard to feel that I'm giving much up - hard drive speed seems to be the last place where laptops have some catching up to do.

THe only reason my new computer isn't going to be a laptop is that my boyfriend has a laptop he lets me borrow frequently. So I'm saving the $300 and getting the same computer in a cute desktop format instead. But if I lose the boyfriend, or he loses the laptop, I'll probably upgrade to a laptop next time around. If I can afford to upgrade at all ever, mind you... *sigh*

I don't think I'd ever go back to a desktop for my personal machine... Even though my laptop is older and slower than my desktop, and it spends most of its time on a desk, the fact that I can toss it in a bookbag and hit the road is really cool... and when the weather's nice I can sit outside with it.
