Friday Challenge - Lurker outing.

Lurkers, just do a quick post here - I dare you!

Okay, its not quite Friday, mentally it is though :)

I think a Lurker's Outing is in order, if you are out there, mooching around - why not drop in and say 'hello' - I dare you.

This is how to do it.

You will see a 'post reply' button. That's the secret key!

Click it and a white window on a blue background will appear.

It's like a blank sheet of paper.

If you want, you can just say 'hello' or if you feel you want to write more than one word ... great!

Try a string of words - that's real fun.

Go on it's Friday - ish!

Don't forget to click 'submit' though :)

Anything below 365 per year is lurking, anything more than 1000 a year means your addicted to webmasterworld.

Have a look at Brett and RC's post count. averaging about 2.5k to 3k per year.

See, this is why I am a lurker...

I come late to the thread because I don't check here every minute, and all the stuff I'd like to say has already been said... probably better:
- use search to avoid dumb questions
- everyone hates "me too" posts
- want to contribute, but someone smarter and/or more knowledgeable already has

To finish with something totally unoriginal: Thanks to all those (esp Brett and moderators) who make this a worthwhile place to invest time.

me, 3000+ I'm pretty sure it's all constructive helpful input...anyway no one counted the 3000 + in foo ;)

Here's an update:
Trisha, Fiver, Travelsite, linkshark, bigM_sh, euginebarnes, oldfathertime, envision, groovyhippo, claus, diggle, SunnhO, georged, killroy .... NON lurker, fatras, caine, Dayo_UK, jaybee, argots ..... come on down!

and I bet there's a few more 'observers' just waiting to hit that button, go on go for it :)

sigh...... I was thinking I post too much. Well... that's probably still true based on my knowledge level.

aabee, grumm .. um, ah, can't seem to.. complete sentences..

But really, like many lurkers.. ditto to various reasons for not posting too frequently.

I don't believe there are any lurkers out there. I also believe that some posters have a dozen or two dozen usernames. :)

OK, I'll come clean. I'm a lurker in many forums... i.e. The ones I don't know that much about. But give me credit, please; I'm a contributor in other forums such as the technical ones. I guess, by the criteria given, I'd be classed as an addict too. So I fit in all categories ;)

I think by the very nature of fora, we are all lurkers to start with with, some just take a little longer than others :)

What about per-lurkers?

Those that mooch around before registering ... there's a few of them too.

Okay, wave your flag, pop in say hello before the next update ... stand up and be counted right here right now ;)

Perhaps there should be a lurkers-only forum for myself and others - anyone with over 100 posts is not allowed in :)

One like this - that doesn't add to your count (so we won't get booted out ourselves!)

It could even sit there, empty all day - but we'd still be there - "lurking" in the shadows :)

I thinks that's a brilliant idea ... its almost a stroke of genius.

So, we have lurkers-anon.com and nobody needs to post - you can just lurk. Think about the savings in bandwidth... excellent!

:) :) :)

It's quite a calming site too, no 'know alls', no flaming nor spamming.

I admire your stealth vincevincevince, in there like the SAS, bish bosh ... job done.

Incredible, what a hero.

I guess I don't post much so that means I am a lurker. I sure learn a lot around here. Thanks to all of you for the wonderful help I am getting. I popped in Foo because i needed a break. I downloaded dreamweaver mx last night. It took hours. I really like it though. I used frontpage before and am trying to learn CSS at the same time.

Foo is an excellent distraction and a good way to dip your toes in the shallow end. The good thing is that you are gaining from the forum in general :)
