It has historical value. I believe the newer versions of this gizmo are far more accurate.

Hmmm, does it measure a force that is applied to the object that rotates on the pole which is attached to the base?

they hit the "ball" which rotates arouynd the pole. through the ammount of rotation the golfer could calculate the distance?

Used to improve your golf swing. When the ball is hit correctly it will rotate around the shaft.

Yes, it measures the swing.

A punchball is was boxers use in training, but it doesn't normally measure the force of the hit.

pageone...i was using photoshop...i was thinking woole, woolf, voole, voolf...

Wow...the other images of it are pretty cool. I would have never guessed it to be so complex from the original picture.

I kinda wrestled with the 'exercise' equipment guess. I'm not sure practicing your golf swing would qualify as exercise....
