After a conversation with Paynt after her resignation as a mod we talked about my nickname: Limbo. I told here that a wise barman in a town in Tanzania gave me the nick. He said that until I had found what I was looking for I should use the name Limbo.

He had me sussed. :)

Also East Africans sometimes abbreviate a name and add an Ba(woman)or Bo(man) to the front of the christian name. In my case Liam became, very appropriately, Limbo. the kenyan Kym we stayed with was known as Kimba and her son Timbo.

So this has got me wondering why and how you chose your Nick's here @ WW and if at any time you had a nickname why you got it and has it stuck?

Limbo blong toobumwheeleewheelee (another story ;) )

I was visiting friends in Sweden a few years ago and we were out in a pub drinking to our hearts content!

One of the (Swedish) girls suggested a drinking game. It involved a staring match with your opponent where the only word that you were allowed to say was "Blobfisk".

I thought that it would make a unique and catchy nick - the rest is history!

I did a similar post way back about username etymology. Got a good Friday response, some real weird names out there.

Mine stems from when I was going to Australia on a free jolly to present a conference and during my signup for a hotmail account my pal distracted me. He then sneaked in filled the form and submitted it for me. He chose ukgimp and I decided I could not be bothered so stuck with it.

It started a game of creating auto corrects in MS word. I liked it when ever he typed his name it inserted the word Muppet as his middle name. He even sent one off on a job application. Class.

<offtopic my me too>I'm of to Kenya/Tanzania in 3 weeks, (if the flights are back on), anything I should not miss seeing?</offtopic my me too>

I wasn't travelling when we visited - I had to work but, there are amzing things to do there. Sunset at the Tilapia hotel(amazing place) Mwanza with a cool bottle of locally brewed Kilemanjaro lager is not to be missed. the road to Mwanza is something else - and a ride in its own right;)

The only sight seeing we did outside of our journey took place in Uganda - so I'm not much help Im afraid.

Ive been racking my brains trying to remember the name of this cool restaurant i ate in. Its in Nairobi

Mike12345 - would that be CARNIVORE?

I ate there once - and it's not for the feint hearted (or vegetarians)

Basically it is fried Zoo over about ten courses! If you finish the first 10 then they repeat the selection for as long as you can continue! - there are white flags on the tables that you raise when(not if) you get beaten by the sheer quantity of Meat dishes. :)

Err.. I dont think I know you but - brown hair: yes - glasses: yes

"Blåsfisk"....

Lazerzubb... it just goes to show how hazy your memory can become after beer!

I could always claim that "BlobFisk" is the Irish translation of "Blåsfisk"... ;)

Would've used my marketing name but BT says no no. Next thing that popped into my head was lawman. Many people think I'm a cop. I'm not, but I work on the same side of the law as they do. ;)

Cheers Limbo thats the one, i couldtn remember it. You've put my mind at ease now. Thanks.

Reason why i thought i knew you is cos i went with a guy called liam from yorkshire to kenya. Thought it might be you but its not. Nevermind. Good guess on the glasses and hair front though! ;)

Condor12 if you go to Carnivore be sure to sample the chicken organs on a stick, cant rememeber the proper name. Smoke horseman ciggies if you smoke, ther the best cigs in the world, and of course drink tusker beer.

And if your up the north of kenya, check out the oasis near lake turkana and mount kulal near the chalbi desert if you get chance. Suppose you'll need a jeep or truck for that though!... oh and shimba hills in the south.. i could go on but i wont.

:)

I just want everyone to visit Thailand! Has nothing to do with what I do, nor any of my domains but it is a truly wonderful place with some of the finest beaches in the world, some of the tastiest food, great history and culture, some of the best hotels and now even some of the greatest cinemas and entertainment spots.

EliteWeb - Well I was an ub3rhax0r a while back and had to figure out a name for my web design company. Elite, meaning what it does and Web, well the hosting has another part after the web. And since I came to this place gonna learn something fun and legit I couldnt use my top secret handle so I had to figure a name, took it from the hosting place. Doesnt seem that bad to me for a name on the Net ;) I could be biased of course.

TJ ~ Not lame, I use trillian exclusively as my IM. That is one fine program.

As for JuniperWasting, it is a setting in a book I have been writing for the last 6 years. A school of higher learning of sorts.

That, and I have never had trouble with getting a unique handle or email with it.

juniperwasting,

Thanks, but it feels lame to still be messing around with programming those kind of things when you get to my age (which is confidential info by the way)!

I suppose this one is easy to figure.
First and last initials spelt out.

J. B. Hence jaybee.

Been called this since the mid sixties.
I guess mainly from my disc jockey days,
in broadcasting.

Name is Milind. Very common in my country and was not getting any good short email address usernames. So combined it with 2k meaning 2000(Sounded cool at that time) and have since used this name everywhere.:)
