I came here in my teens and now I'm 43, my daughter is not that far off the age now when I joined. How time flies.

I learnt so much here. Basically dropping out of college and learning about the SEO and web dev world and taking it from there. Only slightly worried that AI will take my job now!

engine and all the admins/mods over the years obviously deserve massive credit to maintaining the place. Just wanted to say thanks for people who like/liked to throw their ideas around that we all learnt from.

The amount of money that was gained from knowledge gained here can't be far off a billion dollars surely.

What a thoughtful post, thank you! I think most of us who started out about the same time some years ago feel the same kind of gratitude towards those who had started before them and were happy to help one learn the ropes.

It took some digging around just to figure out where to ask what. The place covers so much, it can still seem daunting for those starting out. That and there were a lot more new ideas and possibilities showing up, people who wanted (or needed) to know how to get a site off the ground found these forums to be most useful. I know I have.

For sure. Now if it's on the web it'll be repurposed and the original sources are nowhere referenced mostly. +1 to the original sources.

An early member here was founder of GoToast. It sold to Atlas for over a billion in 2004 already.
Shakil Kahn was a member here for years. Lord only knows how much he is responsible for generating at Spotify, and sites like Coindesk.
Then there are founders of Zoo.com, Plentyoffish, Randy at FlyerTalk, ClickTracks, Urchin...
We probably should mention the Founders of Google who quoted threads to me in email - not to mention GoogleGuy Cutts, and many of those Googlers that were at the early Pubcons.

Probably my fondest remembrance is that of BathRobe that announced the great fire wall of China had been put up right here at little old WebmasterWorld.

Every time I think of sunsetting the forums, those thoughts come up and it would be impossible.

...and that is why I am still here!

Thanks, not only to Brett, but to all those who came before, those who took it up, those still here, those who are about to dive in.

Thank you brotherhood of LAN

So many people and businesses through the virtual doors over the years, and so much education and learning shared. It's probably immeasurable.

One other important thing: For me, the friends and colleagues, some R.I.P., has been a one of the big pleasures.
