Internet bias may soon fade away, by design

Food for thought: When the absolute oversight potential of "digital ID passports" with "digital only currency" is online it will become increasingly difficult to pay for (or receive payment for) propaganda, political bias or sponsored content without being linked to it in media, fact-checking sites, or anywhere else really.

With AI connecting the dots of what is paid for, and to whom, the public could become more aware than ever if a story is trustworthy or not based on who sponsored it. It will all come down to how honest, trustworthy, and unbiased the oversight is, and if they use the information to alert the public, but trust could be restored in media.

Canada is among those leading the way towards that future, so all eyes north.

No current plans to issue one.

Most payments are traceable already - credit card payments, bank transfers etc. Cash is not, which is why governments are so keen to get rid of it.

History tell us that will not happen. Once burned, twice shy.

History does tell us that, especially recent history, but the potential to make the internet much more transparent is baked into these new changes and tools.

Example: Personalized SDG scores for individuals. To be able to tabulate your personal SDG score, ie: to show you your "carbon footprint score" or your "healthy choice score" your purchase data is required in a fully itemized way (list of every item purchased in every transaction, from whom, etc).

In Canada these detailed SDG scores are already mandatory for all companies to have, Canadian or not, if they do business in Canada. Wall st, for example, already reports these scores too in various "SDG-based investment options".

SDG scores on individuals are not here yet but are on their way, according to gov. Cash being deprecated for digital-only "digital wallets" is also being discussed. The loss of privacy is a huge hurdle, but gov is all in to find a way. Forget about that issue for now and look at the potential is would have on monitoring for sponsored misinformation.

Here is a list of the current factors (17 of them) that are factored into a COMPANY SDG score, gov link - [canada.ca...]

Note: the digital ID is essentially a file of EVERYTHING about you. It will contain everything from your health records to your driving records and data from all 53 gov departments (details in the first gov link).

All western countries are in some phase of implementing the SDGs, digital IDs and digital currency. It's happening quickly. Hopefully it will also relieve the animosity between individuals with different opinions.

The total oversight made possible with digital IDs and digital only currencies has other potentially positive implications online.

If you claim to be an expert widget mechanic online, but no trace of ever paying for widget mechanic school exists (no tools, no books, no classes, no tracking info showing you even stepped in a shop, your health file showing you never got a company medical for a widget mechanic company, your purchase history showing you've never bought common widget repair items etc.)... then the system will know... you're not an expert.

If a personal SDG score for your online behavior is implemented, the internet could get very real very quickly as everyone can see your score.

Will it?
