Taking a break

I'm taking a break from extra online activities, which means I'm taking a break from posting here as well. I closed my Netflix account, a couple of other online subscriptions, paid access to NYTimes articles, a payment service, an email account and a few other online distractions. 100% of my online efforts will be on domains I own once again.

Watching record crime rates, record inflation, record gas prices, an economy in worse shape than it's been since WWII and even spending on war have weighed heavily on me lately. Watching friends and neighbors lose their jobs, their homes and their businesses the past couple of years has been difficult.

A sign these things would be short lived would have been welcome, but it seems they will continue to worsen. So be it. While it's in my nature to look out for others first this feels different. Not preparing for hard times is preparing to suffer in hard times so it's time(for me, you do you).

Of the bright side of all the impending job losses, according to Mr Zuckerberg et all, is a boon in new potential writers looking to share their expertise to make ends meet. I'd hire a few of those if I were you.

Good luck!

I find volunteering is of great personal satisfaction, especially when helping others less fortunate. It keeps me from becoming overly concerned about outside matters I can't change. Those less fortunate will still need help.

Make the most of your break, and good luck.

I'll drop in to share some news from the financial world from time to time, but no time for meaningfully helping out with more than that for now.

There's taking a break ... and biting one's tongue. I tend toward the latter, which means I keep track of posts, just chose to keep trap shut ... most of the time!

Taking a break, however, is good commonsense to keep mental stability and passions in order, and to avoid the all too often repeated themes of "help! (G screwed me!) and ranking (see above) and backlinks (see above)...

Then again, it is the nature of the beast.

Merry Christmas and happy new year to anyone who reads this. Good luck navigating what online has become, whatever your contribution to it is!

It took a little longer than I thought to close out escrow on a sale, but... FREEDOM!

It is best to ignore the beast. But do take care.
All the Best, and come back soon.
