The Future is Bluetooth

One part of The Future anyway. Maybe.

Despite its flaws, Harrison doesn't see demand for Bluetooth dying down [...] "Bluetooth hasn't seen it's pinnacle yet," Harrison said, predicting the widespread adoption of the Internet of Things, or smart devices, working together in close range will only add to its growth. "Bluetooth will be the glue that connects that all together."

A couple of weeks back it occurred to me that offline devices could include an entirely offline browser and nearby devices could share data using Bluetooth and then run / display that data in the offline browser.

There might (or might not) be some potential in this.

I want to put together a proof-of-concept implementation at some point in the next month or so to find out.

What are everyone else's favourite uses for Bluetooth?

Me? None. Don't have any... old phart. I don't even own a guitar amp with bluetooth---too old school.

HOWEVER, bluetooth does have a place and value which I recognize, but personally I have not found a need for it.

Of course, YMMV!

To be honest, until around two years ago I barely used Bluetooth for anything apart from occasionally transferring a file from my laptop to my mobile or vice versa. Once I discovered Snapdrop (no affiliation), I used that instead of Bluetooth.

Since I bought a pair of wireless earbuds in late 2020, I've been using Bluetooth almost exclusively for sending music / podcasts etc. to my earbuds whilst out walking and running.

Zombies, Run! (again, no affiliation) which I started this year is a great guilty pleasure. While I still don't get out and do nearly as much running as I would like, I'm certain I do more running than I would if I weren't playing my way through the story of a massive Zombie Apocalypse.

I use bluetooth regularly to play music on portable speakers and headphones, especially now that there's a lack of headphone jack.

It does have a good use in other areas, and i've used low power bluetooth to connect devices to WiFi, making it so much easier.

My main use for bluetooth is listening to audiobooks on headphones, while doing other things of varying usefulness!
