I got a notebook that came with a free wireless card. I have decided to set up a network and want wireless capability. I need to get some regular cable ports with it also for the non-notebooks. I will have 3 computers on it at first. I also have a mac I would like to add. 2 will be direct plug(want to wait to upgrade nics to wireless) in and the last will be wireless. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm using one of the Linksys models, wireless with 4 ports (dang model number is too small for me to see but it's one of the basic ones) for 1 connected desktop, 1 wireless desktop and 1 wireless notebook. Installed and set up without pain. Picked up this one because it an wireless stuff were in stock at same time.

As far as I know there isn't much difference among Linksys, Netgear and Beldin. Have heard much good and some bad about all.

Also using a Linksys router/hub/wireless access point. Very cheap these days (despite Cisco's purchase of Linksys!), and performs well. I've used tech support a few times, and had at least one very good experience and one fairly bad one. All in all, I'd probably buy another Linksys.

I bought mine last week, the Linksys BEFW11S4. 4 normal port plus wireless. Haven't played with the wireless side yet (still doing some reading on how to secure a wireless network). Installation went smoothly, plug in the wall, hook up two pc and cable modem, that's it.

I'm pretty happy for a first try with home networking and beside, this model just looks so cool on my desk!
