Why is my wordpress install talking to me?

While logging in to my wordpress admin dashboard recently I got a wordpress interstitial asking me to confirm that my admin email is still current.

Confirm for who? I built the site, I know if my email is accurate or not, I may even want to use a wrong email, such as a honeypot email, to divert spamers and hackers to it....

It was creepy, like I work for the platform and not vice-versa, lol. Has your dashboard made you verify something about yourself recently too?

I get the "helpfulness" idea behind it but... shut up and do what your told silly install... challenging me to prove something....oi

Maybe WP needs a Treat-Me-Like-I'm-An-Adult-Mode? :P

I get it. :)

It also reflects poorly on WP everytime another million sites become vulnerable, even if the hack isn't directly related to the WP core itself.

Sometimes people use ISP emails and then switch ISPs without updating their emails and that's a security risk.

They do that to ensure that the site is occasionally visited and kept up to date. It started when they began offering auto-update for selected plugins. It seems to activate every time a new version of WP has rolled out.

I don't like getting emails from wordpress either unless I initiate it, anyone getting into your email can learn you have a site and access it.
