Google to pay Apple $15 billion to remain default Safari search engine in 2021

Google forgot to pay me, the end user, and it feels like time to restore some balance to the web by not using either of their search offerings, is it?

You know what they say about absolute power....

It's a significant increase from a year ago, and I wonder why. Could Apple be working on the rumoured search engine [webmasterworld.com] and Google wants to make it difficult to for Apple to leave the Google search service by losing the $15 billion.

Neither of these companies create a lick of content, it would be nice if they paid the content publishers a little more if throwing around billions is trivial.

Just saying.

@Sgt_Kickaxe ...

Sign me up!

However, the days of "they need us more than we need them" have long passed. The "legacy" of indexed content ("scraped and cached") will hold for another 50 or so years so perhaps we might need them more than they need us. Whew!
