Im running Excel 2007 and ive found that several spreadsheets have stopped working, I was using a version I bought in 2011 (version escapes me) is it possible that an older version doent work in some way (i.e not compatible) ?

Hmmm... don't know. Just know that my Excel 2002 still works fine. Then again, these are all self-contained and do not call to other inputs.

Could it just be a Macro that's going awry? We have a couple of seats that still use office 2007 for specific reasons. I don't think in 40 years I've ever seen an office installation stop working unless it was something else causing it...

@Essex_boy, are you trying to open the most recent *.xlsx files? That might not work.

Could it just be a Macro that's going awry?
Or related to that, a file that was originally saved as an Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook, but was accidentally saved as a regular Excel Workbook (macros not enabled)?

I am still using Excel 2007 with no problem except the Help icon returns
Excel 2007 is now retired Upgrade to Microsoft 365 to work anywhere from any device and continue to receive support.
I do have (free) Open Office as a backup though :)

Are you running this on a new machine, or a legacy machine? Some programs just won't run properly on new machines.

Oh, yes, that was one way to force upgrades of the software - incompatibility.
