Just discovered that WebRing.com is gone (since August 2020). Another pioneer of the Internet disappeared.

Wow.
I don't think WebRing was on my radar any longer from around late 2004 onwards.
But back in Spring 2002, when I was right at the beginning of my journey to promote my first significant website, I was definitely a fan.
RIP WebRing.

There have been discussions in the Google Updates and SERPs thread which suggest that some new members believe that the idea still works, though they don't give it a name.
Let's hope for RIP.
