Google has removed a fake Netflix app from its Play Store that was spreading malware through WhatsApp responses.

It seems the app promised free months of access to Netflix, but, of course, it was extracting user logins and credit card details to Netflix when they signed in to the phishing page.

Even Google's scanning of the Play Store failed to detect the malicious aspect of the app.

(...)that aimed to spread malware by automatically responding to your WhatsApp messages.
WhatsApp claims that no-one can intercept their end-to-end encryption. I guess that claim can be put in the dustbin now, if a simple app available in the Play Store did just that ;)
