The Brave browser has said V1.19 will now support IPFS (InterPlanetary File System [en.wikipedia.org]) which allows host content to be shared across many, many systems using the url ipfs://{content_hash_ID}.
Each node in the IPFS network is a potential host for the content being requested, and if a node doesn’t have the content being requested, the node can retrieve the content from the swarm of peers. The retrieved content is verified locally, removing the need to trust a third party’s integrity.

HTTP(S) uses Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) to specify the location of content. This system can be easily censored since the content is hosted in specific locations on behalf of a single entity and it is susceptible to Denial of Service Attacks (DDoS). IPFS identifies its content by content paths and/or CIDs inside of Uniform Resource Identifier (URIs) but not URLs.

Hello,

I think that Opera For Android has IPFS supports since one year.

This is something I didn't really look at, because, I have a bad feeling about this technology... not the technology itself, or its legitimate motivations, but the way it will be exploited for "bad things" and side effects.

How I wish they had called it something else! Every time I see one of these threads, I think it’s a children’s book about the brave little browser that could :(

BTW, it's a fast browser worth trying if you've not already.

Thanks for this heads up.

I was aware of the dat protocol, after first coming across it in 2019, but this is the first I've heard of IPFS.

Comparing the two protocols:

2) How is Dat different than IPFS? [news.ycombinator.com...]

Thanks ronin, and I get how it works, but, i've yet to get my head around that to see how best it can be used.

I installed it on my cell, works fine but I cannot figure how to get rid of multiple calls to make it my default browser.
then I removed it.
On my Wins 10 laptop, very fast, if needed, it may give you direct access to a TOR page.
Even without TOR, try removing adult content filtering and it will go way deeper than TOR, it scared me and I rem it.
Tip: From its own configuration it looks like one is not able to rem history, I made a few searches and if my memory serves me OK you may access history with CTRL H (not 100% sure :) )
EDIT : On a shared machine, don't use it as it reopens on the last visited page.
