A COVID moment

Two bits of COVID behaviour trivia as my locale has adjusted to Phase 2 (of 3) reopening mid last month aka 6-weeks ago...

The first is personal.
A group of us, mostly couples with a few singles, all 40+, have been having semi-weekly (Monday, Thursday) restaurant evenings out.

Good for the businesses and for our mental health.
FaceTime/Skype/Zoom are not the same, humans need actual real life human interaction; even hermit introverts as myself.

We share our negative COVID tests à la hookups clear STD results...

The second is observational:
Active cases have quadrupled and are still rising, fortunately hospitalisations have only doubled, and deaths become the exception.

This surge was/is primarily the 20-40 demographic. After official cautions/reminders the 30-40 cases declined significantly but the 20-30 year olds seem oblivious in their hormonal driven socially deprived state. Monkey brains FTW?

Unfortunately, the fact of prolonged possibly chronic health after effects isn’t being promulgated as the death rate. Ignorance and denial are rife among young adults.

That said, we are, here, for the moment, doing reasonably well. What happens as and when borders reopen is a whole other story. Possibly even probably a whole new method of determining first, second, third world status...

as and when borders reopen
Seeing as how Canada only has land borders with one country, I wouldn’t hold my breath :(
