Sadly, one of the drawbacks to living in Canada is the high cost of mobile connectivity. This was a wet fish slap in the face reminder while running some tests via Tim Kadlec's insightful site
What does my site cost? [whatdoesmysitecost.com]
Find out how much it costs for someone to load a page of your site on mobile networks around the world.
For referential interest sake I ran:
* webmasterworld.com: weighs in at 0.21MB; costs from 0.03USD in Canada to less than cent in Poland.
* bbc.com: weighs in at 1.33MB; costs from 0.16USD in Canada to less than a cent in Poland.
* youtube.com: 0.93MB; costs from 0.11USD in Canada to less than a cent in Poland.
* msnbc.com: 3.63MB; costs from 0.45USD in Canada to a cent in Poland.
Remember that is the cost per page, in the examples above the cost for the home page.
Yes, Canada is a ridiculous outlier. Yes, I’m not moving.
