I enjoy winter.
A walk in new fallen snow, tracks that say critters passed by, everything looking feeling freshly neatly clean, air that nips and tingles...

Today, -43C (-45F) with the wind in the face, I certainly felt extra hard nips and sharper tingles. Also greater appreciation of excursions end, central heat, and a hot drink...

Perhaps I’m just getting old?

Winter? What winter? it was +10 raining buckets here today (also in Canada and no not Victoria BC)
The fact that it is -43 where you live, just shows a how big a country this is.

By tomorrow morning we will crusted in a shell of ice as temperature will slip well below zero.

Criminy. Where I live, the difference between average winter low and average summer high is only about 25°F (about 15°C).

At one time I had my computer's WeatherBug set to a location in the deep interior of Canada, because there’s nothing like “Current temperature -40” to put your own winter chills into perspective.

Heh, today was the first time all winter we got to 31 degrees (FAHRENHEIT!). Christmas was 80 degrees. Then again, where I live, winter does not actually arrive until February!

I can't imagine living in a place which doesn't have a difference between seasons. I like it cold in winter, and warm in summer, and everything in between at spring and summer. I have some friends that have a very long summer-type weather with blue skies and no rain, then it turns down around Late October/November, through to the early part of March where it's not really cold, but it's rainy. In Summer they look forward to the first rains.

The min-max thermometer says it went down to -51.2C (-60F) last night. Currently -46C (-51F). Forecast to a reach a balmy -39C (-38F) as daytime high although where I am (on north facing slope) is typically a degree or two colder than at the local meteorology station.

Have been keeping my ‘walks’ to half an hour duration as the frost buildup on balaclava/scarf gets too bothersome after that... guess it’s not pc to regret the benefit of wolverine trim on parka hoods...

Yup. Blue sky and sun bright on the snow... once the ice fog lifts...

It has been 40-43 Celsius here most of the time with bushfires all round. Been getting some rain lately and more rain coming down south where the fires have been the worst. We don't see snow ever.

We should build a big duct to move cold Canadian winter air to cool your summer and a some hot summer Aussie to air warm up our winters. Mean reversion.

@NickMNS .... after 70+ annual weather cycles am pretty sure we should just let mother nature handle things ... my hottest December was in 1956 and my coldest summer was 2017. :)

Tiny speck in the universe, the geologic engine that is "weather" still requires decades to centuries to function.

Just sayin'!
