Like most of you I use phone, tablet, laptop and PC. My first stop is always the PC but it is becoming more and more a gaming and business tool.

I think it all comes down to productivity. People will use the tool that lets them get the job done. For business and developers the PC is still the tool of choice. For general usage, a tablet or phone will probably be enough.
I remember thinking a few years back that if fewer people have access to PC's there will end up being a skill shortage. Many of us no doubt taught outself how to develop and program at home on a PC.

I still use the whole range of smartphone, tablet, laptop and desktop. The smaller the device the more convenient, but you can't do any serious work on a smatrphone or tablet.
Laptops have become great productivity enhancers, and you can easily add bigger screens, mouse, keyboard and other peripherals. I still use a desktop tower as, in real terms, they are cheaper than a powerful laptop, and are easier to upgrade or repair.
I suspect i'll continue with that setup for the foreseeable future.

The day that someone creates a phone that is as powerful as (or at least close enough to) a PC and has the ability to hook up to a docking station connected to a keyboard, mouse, and multiple monitors, THEN the PC will be on its deathbed.
Added bonus- being able to recognize an external hard drive connected to the docking station. Sure, I could store most things in the cloud. But when doing a lot of images or even video, I don't want to wait for uploads/downloads or deal with bandwidth limitations.

The iPad was supposed to kill off the PC
I hope that there are not too many people believing this nonsense. For business and work I wouldn't consider using anything else but a PC, and apparently most of my market does as well, because overall traffic to my main site is less than 30% non-PC.

Phones are convenient for a cursory look at a web page, or for mindlessly scrolling through social media, but to do serious research on a topic I continue to use a laptop or PC. Images are so much easier to accurately view on a PC. Looking at a large image on a phone is like seeing the world through the hole of a toilet.
There are also so many more security issues with phones and apps that can compromize your device. You really cannot protect yourself if an app wants to leak your info.
I'm sticking with my laptop or PC.

Thinking about win7 support ending soon I went to best buy yesterday to kind of get a feel for what's next for us. I,ve been living on laptops for the last 10 or 12 tears so that's where I headed. After walking past a billion phones I found a dismal supply of options in laptops and only a handful of PCs.
I guess I haven't been computer shopping lately. Nothing really impressed me. But what I did notice was how many laptops had small SSD drives instead of 500gb to 1T drives.

Kids build their destops and laptops from scratch now. Components are around, just spec, buy and build. Best Buy is not the greatest place to shop for the 'puter geek.
