Email client suggestion for Windows 10

Any advice on an email client to IMAP my new Win10 2-in-1 with Gmail?

I've been using Thunderbird, which is OK but not great. Sometimes it freezes up on me, and sometimes it gets so bad that I have to close everything and reboot my computer to get it going again.

Sometimes I will be in the middle of typing an email, and the letters just don't show up so I have to wait. And it never fails that when it finally responds it will minimize the email I was typing, and the keys I had pressed become commands throughout my Inbox; eg, if you press "j" then it sends the highlighted email to the spam folder.

I initially switched to Thunderbird, though, because I had WAY more than 2G of email, and using a single PST file like Outlook was terrible. I still move a lot of emails out of Gmail because of the limited storage, but since I IMAP more then maybe Outlook wouldn't be so bad?

I would much prefer shortcuts that required Ctrl+ or Alt+ instead of single-letter commands. And I would love to be able to customize them. I commonly read an email and then move it to a specific folder, so a list of Ctrl+[custom] options to send emails to a folder without using the mouse would be great. And Ctrl+S to send would be sooooo great!

I don't care too much about rules or filters, I let Gmail handle that for me. I also don't care much about the Calendar or Tasks, I've had those features for years and never use them.

I do need it to support multiple sending accounts, though. I have 55 domains so a different email address for each of them, and when someone emails me on one address it's much better for me to reply from the address they used. It'll be the same SMTP settings, though.

I've also tried emClient and Windows Live Mail. I don't remember why they didn't stick, but I THINK it's because I much prefer an outbox that sends in the background after a certain period, instead of clicking "Send" and then waiting for it to complete before I can move on to the next email.

Any other suggestions?

If you close Thunderbird once a day all works great! (Tbird keeps adding memory as your day progresses, and a week's worth of days can really build up!)

CTRL+ENTER will send your message NOW...

Hah, I didn't know that about the memory! That's very helpful. I tend to make a lot of notes throughout the day in Notepad, so there's nothing worse then everything starting to freeze up and I lose those notes!

Thunderbird USED to have an outbox plugin, but it went away a few updates ago and I haven't found a replacement. That would have saved my hide more than once, even if we don't consider the annoyance of having to wait for it to process before I can move on. Any suggestions on setting up a delayed send / outbox?

My Thunderbird runs for days and weeks at a time with no problem.

Much of it depends on how many tabs are open and, for some reason, how many videos one views over a period of time. I have seen this since FF69 by keeping Task Manager open and viewing number of processes and memory in use.

YMMV

Isn't Thunderbird an email client? So what has tabs open in a browser got to do with it?

I'm using more than one service: Outlook, gmail, yahoo.
Best of the lot for me is outlook: It's become far better at filtering. Yahoo is probably the worst: Not such a good UI.
Agreed with the problem of the horrible file system used by Outlook.
I know, these are not "clients" as such, but if you want a client, I haven't found a package that works better than Thunderbird, which I still use.

I have not had tech issues with it.

BTW, I use Gmail to reply with specific emails that i've verified, which means, either just replying, or if creating new, just choose from the dropdown which email I want it to come from.

It is, but it also can open each email in separate tabs and end up in the same overloaded memory space. :)

Also has a built in browser (comes in handy for newsgroups).

YMMV

@Kendo, Thunderbird has a tabbed UI. You can open theads, emails, search (of emails) results etc. in separate tabs.

@csdude55 There is an outbox plugin called Send Later; take a look there.

By the way, using ANY email client as IMAP client implies a few freezings a day due to network lapsus.

Well, since I had to buy Office 365 for the office manager... it includes 5 licenses, so I figured that I'd give Outlook another chance. I'm still on the fence about it, but at least it does send in the background.

Any suggestions on how to import Thunderbird local emails and folders to Outlook? I've tried several add-ons but nothing has worked quite right. The closest was something like "Mbox to PST" from OutlookFreeware.com, but only about half of the emails were imported and the sub-folders didn't import. And now I have an "Outlook Freeware" tab that I can't get rid of >:-(

@Lexur, I tried the "Send Later" plugin, but it was even more of a pain! LOL Each time I clicked to send later, it wanted me to select a time to send instead of just remember to do it 5 minutes from now. I couldn't find a way to keep it automated, so I gave up on it.
