LOS ANGELES (October 31, 2019) — The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) today achieved another major win when the operator of two giant sources of illegal, unauthorized content, agreed to cease all operations.

[alliance4creativity.com...]

Read it to see who got shut down ... I just found this interesting (amusing?) that deep pockets can stamp out piracy of content and the average webmaster (you and me) have one heck of a time stopping theft of intellectual property!

Sigh.

Hello-

pay a significant damage award.

I wonder how much they are asked to pay, and how much they'll effectively pay.

And, where are the owners/operators of these sites?

sources of illegal, unauthorized content

There's the key.

Unfortunately, many people have grown up with the idea that it's ok to take stuff off the Internet for free and they don't realise that the creator doesn't get paid. That applies to all ends of the spectrum, and is probably more important at the single creators.

IMO you are being overly charitable here engine.

while i agree with what you are saying, i think most users couldn't care less about creators, they just aren't aware of the concept that a content creator should even be paid at all, and if they are, they think stuff should be free anyway and in all cases would much rather NOT pay if they can find a way.

That may be true of some folks but for those of us who live outside the US, a large amount of US TV is not available at all at any price.
