I am going down to Seattle for a couple of days to take in the Manchester United vs Celtic soccer game July 22nd. It is at the Seahawks stadium. I also want to see Pike Place market, Space Needle, ..... Any suggestions for a hotel.

Also, what is the easiest and safest way to get to and from the stadium?

Thanks,
Shane

The Alexis is beautiful and so is the Hotel Monaco. Both are right downtown and you won't have to walk very far to the market, etc. The public transportation is excellent- I'd use it to get to the stadium.

I can't really make any specific hotel suggestions but wherever you stay downtown your best bet would probably be to walk to the stadium. It is probably about a 20-30 minute walk from Pike Street to the stadium. There is also a trolly that runs along the waterfront that you could try.

When I go over for Seahawks games I usually walk down to the waterfront for some fish and chips and it isn't that far of a walk. It can be a bit hilly but nothing too bad.

Thanks DrCool. My son loves fish and chips so that would be a nice way to start the evening. Is it safe to walk that area in the evening? Lots of people about, .....

Fiestagirl, thanks. Curious, what makes them the 'nice' hotels? Are they expensive or is anything in that area basically the same?

Thanks from Canada,
Shane

By nice I mean good beds, quiet, centrally located. Downtown Seattle hotels are expensive and more expensive. If you have a car they charge to park it by the night. You might be able to find a deal on one of the big travel sites.

You should be fine with your son. It is a fairly busy area, especially with a big sporting event. The Pioneer Square area just north of the stadium has a few panhandlers and homeless but there should be enought people around that you won't have any problems. If you head down to the waterfront for fish and chips go to Ivar's. They are very good.

Ivars! Man I remember Ivars! Big smile on face. My mom and dad always took me there when we went to Seattle. Talk about memory lane. Great suggestion! (Thanks for the safety talk, nervous with son.)

fiesta, I hear ya, $$$ and $$$$s. I'll do the internet snooping for rates and the BCAA (auto association, and entertainment book).

Thanks for the help peoples.
