Waaay back in 1989 Intel released the 80486 microprocessor (1-meeellion transistors!) so I, of course built a 386 machine. Always one or two steps back for best value...
I did splurge on RAM: 2-MB! not the usual 512KB for me; HD: 200MB! not the typical 30 or 40; 15" VGA monitor... pure awesomeness for (complete system) $2000.00 CAD ($3662.00 with inflation).

Well, today, comes the Raspberry Pi 4 [raspberrypi.org].
* Four! 64-bit Armv8 Cortex-A72 CPU cores clocked at 1.5GHz
* 4GB LPDDR4 RAMM
* Two D micro 4K HDMI connectors.
* 15.3W ! USB-C Power Supply
* Case
Sits in the palm of your hand: $160.00 CAD

If there is a truly fun educational toy / tool this is it.

Moore's Law at work ... just making things smaller! (And cheaper).

I did get 25 years service out of my first 486 ... and happily ran win 3.01 until the machine finally died. :)
