The European Union is planning to establish one of the world's largest databases of EU and non-EU citizens to include biometrics. The intention is to connect currently fragmented systems of border control, migration and law enforcement.

I would assume security of the date to be paramount as this would be a thief's dream to access that content.

1. Biometric data gets widely used
2. Biometric data gets regularly stolen
3. Profit!

For those not familiar with it 3, is a Slashdot meme/joke

The real 3. is that biometric data will end up being useless because if stolen it can be faked.

Today's news includes Facebook banning users who did not break rules but that they do not like, Mastercard being forced to vote to defund individuals for wrongthink and blacklists cointaining only sites of one political affiliation.

In a time when everything is seemingly political someone needs strong oversight on this new project to keep it from being used for political purposes.
