Can you say: no fool like an old fool?
How about: glutton for punishment?

Back in 2017 my Great Chinese Adventure aka (1) translating my sites to Chinese and (2) using servers within the Great Firewall was feature complete. Once again I contemplated semi-retirement...

Except there is one highly lucrative under served market for my niche that has been beckoning since I did the background research for the GCA in 2012...

Japan.

As with China it will require a 5-year commitment. If all goes to plan and on schedule.

Yes, I'm an idjit.
Some things don't change :)

When you enjoy what you do it is not work in the typical sense. You accept payment, of course, but that's not why you accept the challenge. The payment is just a bonus, ice cream on the pie. An off switch might make you miserable. I don't pretend to speak for others, but really - would anyone do this kind of work if it isn't what they enjoy doing?

The answer is to find something else that you enjoy as much if not more.

With a modest pension and the mortgage paid off I have switched from IT to part time music journalism. The main skill that I use from my former life now is the ability to touch type.

One plays the game. Pick and choose. Been to Japan first, gave up on China. :) (obvious reasons, but that's a different subject).

We go until we stop, or quit. I haven't, and I suspect you have not as well @imalost!
