Hi, I'm not use to rant (well not in public at least :) ), but I wanted to know your thought about this:

I'm in the UK and want to buy the Macromedia Studio MX Plus pack, therefore I go on their website clik on UK for the regional location and see a nice little price in Pound.

Now I say to myself: well what my fellow american webmasters friends are paying ... well with the current limited offer they pay more that $350 less than what I would pay if I buy it online, that's almost £200 almost a third less :(

So I email Macromedia if it's possible to buy the goods from their worldwide store and have them delivered here in the uk OR if I can only have backup copies delivered here and download the whole lot from their servers.

Well no answers from them so far - it's been almost a week now...

Anybody else experiencing slow feedback from them? Did anybody outside the America has bought products from their US (worldwide?) online store

I thought that with the internet and ecommerce a little more globalisation would apply, but it seem that the regional localisation does affect you.

What are you thoughts on that - anybody experiening the same with other products?

Sorry about the rant ;)

Hi Leo,

The problem is they can get away with it. At the end if the day you can sell a product to someone for one price and charge the next person twice as much. They have the control.

I would contact the UK sales team (by phone so you can put on some pressure) and argue the case. Software generally makes over 90% profit so they do have room to negotiate.

I think we just need to accept that software in the UK is going to be a bit more expensive than across the pond.

The price you pay in the uk will include vat so thats one thing to concider.

On this point im just guessing but sales tax in the states is lower but you pay state tax so this levels it of, Just means US users pay less for products but more tax on other things.

If you where to order it from the world wide store they would add UK tax rates to it so the saving woulden't be that great. :(
