AOL to Shut Down AIM Instant Messenger December 15, 2017

That early IM chat system that became a very, very popular, AIM Instant Messenger, is to be discontinued by AOL on December 15, 2017. It's been running since 1997, and there are no plans to replace it with anything. All the data will be removed after that data, so if you need access, you can carry on as normal until December 15.

Ouch! I think there are still many around here (still kicking) that were using/hosting a BBS long before AIM. In fact, AIM is what all them new-fangled whippersnappers were using...
