Saw this on the news while I was on the treadmill at lunch. (Wasn't sure if it was a sign to speed up or slow down.)

I enjoyed his music, although I wasn't a huge fan (never saw him in concert).

Tom Petty, the rocker best known as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is clinging to life in a Los Angeles hospital, according to TMZ. An earlier LAPD report which confirmed the singer's death, and which CBS reported, has since been clarified.

Life support has been reportedly removed. There is also a DNR order in place. Sometimes miracles happen. Sometimes not. Meanwhile, it's been great to have had his genius with us for all this time.

i was lucky to see him live 3 times and unlucky that i decided to skip his last shows at the hollywood bowl a couple of weekends ago...
