Just got this email from Amazon. I hope the band knows it will be awhile before they will see any money!

Hello Paul ,
We're writing because an unexpected delay has occurred in delivering the album listed below:

Title: A Deeper Understanding
Artist: The War On Drugs

Your new expected release date: Saturday, December 31, 2039.

We apologize for any inconvenience. We'll keep your pre-order open on your account and deliver the title as soon as it is released. As a reminder, you can always change, cancel, or view the status of your orders in Your Orders.

Got more questions? Learn more in Help & Customer Service.

We hope to see you again soon.

I am heartbroken to note that 31 December 2039 will, in fact, be a Saturday. It would have been so much more fun if Amazon had gone into an alternative time realm, possibly involving one or more post-Gregorian intercalary days.

yes good observation, probably a default deeply embedded into their system ... and given how much of the internet they control today with their cloud services and how much more they will be controlling in the future ... should that be highlighted as a potential disaster day - similar to the millenium bug (although we all know not a lot came of that - but who knows what will happen at midnight on 'Amazon Day')

Just got a reply from Amazon saying their engineers are "diligently working" on the problem. Not sure what the means in Amazon language but hopefully their best and brightest are on this important case!

Hmmm... I thought it might be a tech solution to achieving an "Olides Market" sale down the line. Building for the future. :)
