Hi All,

I've just got to tell you this. Kids are either growing me clever or more psycopatic.

Incase you don't know me. One of my many simultaneous careers involves working in primary schools (they take out a contract and I go in to repair their machines). Anywho! I was repairing a machine in a year 3 classroom (kids are either 7 or 8). The teacher was talking to the class about religion and their differences. She posed the question 'Is there life after death?'. A young girl came out with the following (I'm para-phrasing but trust me, the jist is correct).

Miss! I think the question is bad. Shouldn't it be is there life or existence. Afterall, every day is the same.

Get up
Go to work or school
Come home and clean the house
Cook dinner
Have 5 minutes peace
Go to bed

You do this for your entire life then kick the bucket. Worst of all, you start the way you end, with nothing to show for it. That's not life, that's just existence.

Well I was staggered. This girl is either going to grow up being one of the greatest philosophers of this century or a depressed axe murders.

Wow, your thoughts
Chris :-$

I'm with Sinner_G on the vote. I don't think so much "wow, she's clever" - I think "geeeez, that is *really* sad that she's thinking like that at age 7 (and disturbing!)".

5 years of intensive therapy might put her straight.

10:1 she's on Prozac by 14.

Sounds like something her parents said to each other the night before, that she's repeating.

probably verbatim straight from one of her parents.

Remember being a child, parents philosophies and views on living and the world around, are literally absorbed by the child.

Chris, though this is probably not possible, have a chat with a 7-8 child, and the inconsistencies of their conversational abilities will scare you, from seemingly dope chilled theologies to the rants and raves of dolls and toys.

Anyway, i'll go for philospher.

I might give that a go caine. I do usually have a child as a helper for the afternoon. I'll try to make it her.

You have be careful what questions you ask kids these days as they will wind up telling mum and dad and then dad (usually ten foot tall) will come and punch your lights out for being a bad influence. Even though more probable that it is they who are in fact the bad influence.

Best of luck, id get that protective clothing sooner rather than later.

Im going for serial killer ;)

I'm not going to ask questions. Just make small talk will she's passing messages on for me. I want to gauge her intelligence.

I think the girl needs to play more with her friends to wash it out a bit.

maybe she took the red pill instead of the blue?
