my first 45 was a chuck berry song. (johnny b goode was on the b side)
many of my favorite bands had his songs in their regular live repertoire, including the grateful dead and the rolling stones.
i never saw him live - missed my last chance over 5 years ago and have been regretting that ever since.
for years he had a monthly residency at blueberry hill in st louis - his last show was october 2014.

I talked with him once in Hollywood on the street. Can't remember what we talked about but I do remember his shoes were polished really well... and he was cranky :)
