Sometimes I find it suprising the way all of us keep an eye on Google. Proof of our Google-centric attitude -

- Anything remotely new and related to Google finds a place in the highlighted posts on the Webmasterworld homepage.

- Those update threads that probably account for 50 percent of Webmasterworld's bandwidth charges.

- The number of Google forums

- The number of new threads in Google News forum (averages 150 a day)

I am actually curious to know what was the biggest topic of discussion here at Webmasterworld BEFORE Google became the biggest thing. Microsoft Windows software bugs?

sorry i was being churlish..

AV was certainly the hot topic in the "other place". I was not here in the early days, but i think that by the time i got here WebmasterWorld was the first place to really see that Google was going to be big, even though it was a relative newcomer at that time.

Yup. Could be cut down a bit if some members took the time and effort to read current threads about a given topic instead of dragging on their own soap box.

Duplicate threads are a real pain in the Google forum, especially about updates. It is hard to manage for admins, mods and all members alike. Too much noise for the signal. This laziness/ignorance is getting on a lot of people's nerves (mine included, does it show? :) ).

Also, some members will post anything in the Google forum. I guess they have yet to discover the rest of the board.

>>- The number of Google forums

I believe we need another Google forum. It has been suggested many times here : New to Google.

Google news forum should be restricted to members who passed some kind of basic test...

...otherwise, we are running in circle. Sad to see.

Herr, sorry.

Let me rephrase :

Posting in Google news forum should be restricted to members who passed some kind of basic test...

I would leave it read only for all members who did not yet pass the test.
