Old school friends you havent seen in years.

Had an old school friend I hadn't seen in nearly 25 years as a kid I spent most of my time with him, found him via facebook and we agreed to meet up in his home town.

First problem the area he lived in was in the red light district, pub was very run down but hey ho....

Meet up with him and regretted it within a few moments, on his 5th divorce married every 4 years, self opinionated, boarderline alcoholic and long term unemployed (subsidised his income by selling his wifes meds on the black market).

It was such a shame, wish I had never done it.

I was contacted through Facebook about attending my high school reunion. I graciously declined, then the following year they tried again. I was told it was very casual and held outdoors on the patio of a restaurant about an hour drive from where I live.

I showed up and didn't recognize a soul. Who were these old people?

Once I mingled around and started talking to a few, a few memories did return, but man... some people do not take care of themselves :)

Pretty boring evening. Haven't been back.

I've met a few over the years. Some are much the same, but the rest looked at me and said "who the heck are you and what happened to that..." Yeah, most times it is US that change, not them. :)

I caught up with a number of university friends through FB, and met two of them last time I was in the UK. I have got it touch with a number of school friends (high school in American terms) since and have had long discussions on FB etc. and found I have a lot still in common with them.

Never go back. There is a good reason why you haven't contacted these people for years, and another one for why they haven't contacted you.

I regret not keeping in touch with old school friends but once the break is made it is difficult to go back. I have seen photos of reunions and didn't recognise a soul.

A FB listing can show how different that person has become before meeting with them. Sometimes it's a useful tool to get an idea of how their lives have changed and formed.

I am lucky to have kept in touch with a number of my old school pals, and those of my early career. I used various methods to retain the contact, including a reunion about 10-years ago. We're all busy, and live in many different parts of the world so it's almost impossible to have any real reunions of a big group.

The emergence of social media meant that it was easier to get back in touch with old friends i'd not seen in many years.

Yes, and it's often not possible as our lives have changed greatly. As kids we were in our formative years, and our interests were greatly different from now. I was contacted by someone a few years back and we both quickly realised our lives were so very different that we lost touch again. It's a little sad in some respects, but that's the way it is.

I met up with 2 guys I was in primary School with (ages 5-12) and one just looks exactly as he did back then. The other I would have walked right past. It's good to have a catch up, as long as you don't mind some old memories being ruined.

We had a tight group of four friends when I was zero to about 10 years old. All moved away and I lost touch with them (so circa 1973). In the last five years, I've reconnected with two of them.

We should have stayed friends. We have so many interests in common still. They were good kids at 9 years old and they are good kids now.

I also connected with a friend of my brother's that I rock climbed with once in 1973. He came to my house and stayed five days. We're pretty good friends now and meet up when we have the chance.

My friends who loved the outdoors when I was 10 still love the outdoors. My friends who loved books when I was 10, still love books.

My only regret is that I went 40 years without their friendship
