The incident occurred while chimpanzees were being filmed at Royal Burgers’ zoo, in the Netherlands, in April.

Several of the chimps reacted by grabbing willow twigs and climbing a scaffold where the drone was hovering. When the remote controlled craft zoomed in on two of the animals, one of them, a female called Tushi, decided enough was enough. She made two long sweeps with her stick, the second of which struck the drone and downed it.

Seem to remember reading this is a pretty common chimpanzee response to unfamiliar objects. When in doubt, smash it.

Yet another example that critters of all kinds (not just humans) have a visceral reaction to tracking and spying. :)

Well I don't know if the Chimpanzees understood the purpose of the drone.

My theory is that they just don't like human technology.
