Is this just sour grapes, or is there something behind this report.

Beginning more than a decade ago, one of the largest security companies in the world, Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab, tried to damage rivals in the marketplace by tricking their antivirus software programs into classifying benign files as malicious, according to two former employees. Report: Antivirus Firm Faked Malware Alerts to Strike at Rivals [reuters.com]
"Our company has never conducted any secret campaign to trick competitors into generating false positives to damage their market standing," Kaspersky said in a statement to Reuters. "Such actions are unethical, dishonest and their legality is at least questionable."

And they seem to have a bit of 'form' in this too, according to a report I read. Bit of a worry if true....
I was going to give them a try for a new PC I'm getting - fed up with a certain product starting with 'Mc'....

I have always had a hunch that some of the malware was being created by these ant-virus companies to help grow their business.

A month or so ago Facebook locked my account untill I scanned my site (which I publish links to) with a malware detection tool they forced me to download. The alert and the tool were Kaspersky.
