A man at the lake is stopped by a game warden with his basket full of fish.

Warden: do you have a permit for all these fish?

Man: no sir. These are all my pet fish.

Warden: your pet fish? How's that?

Man: well, every night I take all my pet fish for a walk to the lake, I let them swim for about half hour and then I whistle and they all come back and jump in my basket and we go home. We do this every night.

Warden: Well that's just a crock of lies!

Man: here I'll show you... (Releases the fish in the lake)

Warden: well this I got to see!

5 minutes later...

Warden: well?

Man: what?

Warden: the fish! Where's your pet fish?

Man: what fish?

Huh. I thought it was a reference to A Fish Called Wanda.

Nah, it's the joke I don't get.

Yeah, I thought Leosghost was referring to A Fish Called Wanda too. But I do see the potential of the "Woman without a man..." interpretation.

But to get ALL of it I absolutely need to get the joke. Which I sadly don't.

That's it? Ah....

But he didn't get the fish! That's bittersweet.

There has to be more. I'm convinced there's more.

Objection...
"Suspected ( due to lack of evidence to the contraire ) criminal"..guilt not proven..innocence assumed..

Piscatorial prestidigitation prevents police pursuits...

Well, that's the difference between de facto and de jure.

Um, I really don't get what you're getting at here....?

Anyway, onto another topic altogether.

I often wonder, is tautology the study of taut things? Or is it exactly what it says: a tautology? And we all know tautness is taut, but how and why is it taught? And is it taut in its tautality? I guess we'll see what we can see.

(The problem is I was never taught a logical argument. Why, you ask? No reason.)

If you don't live in Texas (or Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida) and hunt and fish without a license, then the joke means nothing. Over your head. Context is important... the context is Park/Wildlife Rangers, the majority of which are assumed, just by their office, to be idiots who can't find a real job but suck at the government teat for all it's worth, accruing a pension and have a "big frog" and "Lilly pad" attitude.. And in some States carry a gun. :)
