Listening to 13 hours of Chicago at the moment. Last month it was Steve Miller. Blood Sweat and Tears got me through a RWD for a client before that.

A Glenn Miller/Cole Porter/Cugat/Dorsey listen got me through a database interface setup for a racally obtuse client...

I do love digital music libraries... that getting up every 12-18 minutes to flip a vinyl is a pain the assets. :)

What is your top 10 for cording noise?

.... or are you the strong, silent type?

Generally, silence, glorious silence and just the furious tapping of keys.

If there's a deadline, it's anything with a driving beat. Quite like Avicii et al. Then a bit of Cafe del Mar to slow things down if the keyboard is burning up.

Something with no lyrics - so lots of jazz, new age kinda stuff (examples: Flim and the BB's; Acoustic Alchemy; John Tesh; etc.)

Mostly classic hard rock. I have several Pandora channels setup- Judas Priest, Rainbow, and Black Sabbath. When I'm in the mood for something a little lighter- Triumph and The Cult. For a change of pace and want to hear stuff not that familiar, I switch to the Industrial Radio channel. And for when the 90s throwback mood strikes me, a Stone Roses channel.

I like that Pandora is fairly good at matching related artists for a good mix. (And if not, the NEXT button is just a click away.)

I'm sort of tired with a lot of the stuff I have on my iTunes, so I'll generally go to YouTube to play full albums (or if I "need" to hear a particular song). I had been listing to Black Sabbath's "Vol. 4" a lot, until You Tube removed all the uploads, except for one- but that has the lyrics audio removed and the lyrics are printed on the video. Black Sabbath for karaoke? Seriously?

I don't code. But if I did, I'd code to Blindfish.

Tried Cream for a bit... much as I like as a guitarist, it does not do well.... and my downloads have both studio and live versions and that's a PITA...

Gave up as I don't have the time to rename files for proper order at the moment.

but I did note that Cream is not condusive for coding as nothing they do has any real structure (which made them immense at the time).

Switched to Dvorak, symphonies, etc.

In college, I was a Wall, Quadrophenia, Stones, and Springsteen coder. In the 90's I mellowed alot and moved to a ton of softer stuff. In the 00's I almost gave up all music while coding. Now, I want dead silence. Just today, I zoned out coding from about 6am until I realized it was noon lunch time.

Code to this - nothing like a little Red Hot Mama. Blindfish played a 4th celebration in a town not far from here. If you want the entire playlist, sticky me:

Blind Lemon Pledge
Marlowe Moccasin Sox
Arlo Gotrashnleg

These are playing in my head when I really need to concentrate (ie. silence in a customer's office). Fortunately these sessions are few and far between because I do it right the first time around. :)

I like fast music, something with a wild churning beat, keeps the brain ticking.

Whatever genre from hard rock, alternative, trance, disco, rap, big band, it's a wild mix but it's never slow

Lately I've been switching to music videos grinding away from youtube on the 27" but it's hard not to just get up and shake it when LMFAO hits the screen, sorry for party rock'n...

TMS, yes, I like it. :)

I get bored with my music collection, which is reasonably extensive and comprehensive, so I tend to use radio stations to play the tunes i'm in the mood for, which most of the time is a range of rock music.

I have my favourite stations, which i'/m sure you do, too.
I will listen to almost anything, except rap.
