This really does get me annoyed. Why should a company with a brand stoop even lower! That sneaky installation has plagued Windows users, and now, somebody thought it was a good idea to extend it to Macs! Even if money talks, this is a bad move, imho.

For years, Oracle has tormented Windows users by bundling adware with its Java installer for Windows PCs. Now Oracle has begun including the same adware as part of a default installation of Java for the Mac, using the same deceptive techniques.Macs Now To Get Toolbar Adware Bundled With Oracle's Java [zdnet.com]

Java seems to have a new update every month, and it always annoys me, and not just because of the attempt to sneak in a toolbar with it. There's always a followup message about changing my settings, and what I should do is never clear.

Yes, it's pretty junky-type installation. It's be nice to do without all that messing. I suspect this latest step is only going to annoy. Bad move!

We're thinking about buying some Macs, this is very disappointing!

I have Java turned off on my Mac. It wouldn't bother me, the only thing I use a Chrome browser for is offline testing and visiting Google services. I have not seen a Java update in a very long time but I don't think that removing it would be difficult. I think it is a durty rotten thing to do to unwitting clients.
