Imagine applying for health insurance and saying

"I only have one beer a month"

and getting a response like

"Really? That's not what your refrigerator says!"

Anymore fun thoughts? :)

On the subject of your refrigerator: It automatically over orders one product, and guess, what, it's your beer!

Somehow I won't mind that so much.

The City of OhMyGosh! has determined your electric and water use exceeds...

Your TV sends you to bed for binge watching Friends repeats and only runs 4 hours a day

Your car takes you home because the emergency doctor's visit exceeds you allowed monthly mileage

Child Protective Services arrest you since the babycam and monitor determine abuse because the baby cried more than three minutes

Your lawnmower determines your grass is okay and refuses to operate, even though your HOA will sue you for unkempt yard

Your heater controls are locked at 58 degrees and advise you to put on more clothing

Your radio enforces "fair play" by sending liberal talk for two hours for every two hours of conservative talk you dialed in

Your spouse uses OnStar and GPS tracking in a divorce to show your vehicle in a field, with violent motions while stopped

You think I'm freakin' kidding?

...those devices have weak configuration and they lack of visibility/documentation about their behavior. Take care when connecting them on your network. A best practice is to inspect the traffic they generate once online (DNS requests, HTTP(S) request or any other protocol).
