OK I'm definitely not techie minded ..I have the chance to get/purchase? a toshiba satellite pro 4200..It's doing all I want it to, (and yes I've noticed the noisy fan)

and I'm online at the minute...thoughts as to a reasonable 2nd hand price?

oh and it's got windows 98 again not familiar with...how do I get rid of those pictures that keep appearing (not a screensaver)...they're "walking" across the screen regardless...:(!

I need it(laptop/notebook) to access internet and be able to install my text editors onto...for a year or 2 anyway... will it do?

sorry for curt post but it's really difficult to use a keyboard you're not familiar with...:)

Hmm. Sounds odd. Sure it's not screensaver? Do a search for SpyBot, download it- click the update then run it.

Also, a good amount of RAM is more important in a notebook. If Win98 runs out of memory and starts to use your hard drive as 'virtual memory' it will drain the battery a bit more quickly.

If all you will run on it are text editors- sure why wouldn't it do it?

I ran WinNT Server on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 420 w/ P90 and 32 Meg RAM a while ago. ;)

It was a tad slow, but I preferred it over Win98.

Good luck.
