Russian site links to breached webcams and baby monitors
The site lists streams from more than 250 countries and other territories.

The public is being warned about a website containing thousands of live feeds to baby monitors, stand-alone webcams and CCTV systems.
Data watchdogs across the world have drawn attention to the Russian-based site, which broadcasts footage from systems using either default passwords or no log-in codes at all.
This is not new, I tried this more than a few years ago and was amazed you could access 'security' cameras. Note: it was an academic exercise, just out of interest. So i will not reveal how here !
The only amazing thing is that the media have just found out !

I agree it is an old "technique"..But I think the "new" is that websites now exist that allow anyone to stream the feeds..Regardless of how much "tech"* they know..
* For (as Lucy24 would say ) a "given definition of tech"..
"The media" ( especially the Beeb's media correspondents ) are frequently those who call "in house" IT support to change the batteries in their cordless mice..
