The media is buzzing with news about a new Facebook rival.

[theguardian.com...]

I suspect that chances may be thin, but Facebook is going down the path that caused MySpace to fail. By rights Facebook should not exist, but a college kid beat out the powerful News Corporation, with a "No rules policy"

How things have changed in ten years.

Ello is a fresh idea, and may stand a chance, as Facebook continue to diverge from it roots, that made it a success.

Users are addicted to Facebook, but they are beginning to sing "I want a new Drug".

facebook isn't the problem or the addiction.

Narcissism is.

I don't agree on Ello's statement that advertising is unethical *in general*, but I agree with them that the way some social networks use data crosses borders unethical usage.

All in all, I look forward to trying Ello. The idea in itself is interesting and might be an answer to the growing need for privacy among users.

I compete, makes me better. You compete. I hope they have to compete as well. Competition is the best way to make sure people are well served. Perform, or die.
