Taking payment online

Trying to use PayPal, seems longwinded

Hi

Does anyone know of an easy to setup online credit card facility.

I've been trying to use PayPal, but it doesn't seem to have taken my test payment and it seems long-winded for the customer to use.

There are a number of other options worth exploring that won't require your customers to become "members" the way PayPal does. For example, Brent uses (besides PayPal) 2checkout.com here at webmasterworld -- and so does my company, for some projects. We also use paysystems.com. And there are plenty more. Generally, they'll cost you more than PayPal, won't give you your money as soon, but are easier for your customers.

We're based in Bangkok, Thailand and are targeting in-bound customers from the UK/Europe so need to take payment in UK Pounds or Euros. I took a look at 2CheckOut and they seemed to only offer US$.

We now have three new customers wanting to pay - can't take the money!

You could always go with someone like Worldpay or Protx, assuming your clients have credit cards. They're both fairly well known, with quite a backing.

I signed up with WorldPay (no merchant account yet).

Seems like a more straightforward payment process, although they are charging 7.5% which seems excessive.

I'm with Andrew, protx seem really good. Only time will tell, though.

I'd much rather pay 5p per transaction than 7.5%

True enough. But we've just set up our company and don't have a merchant account, therefore we need to use a third party like WorldPay to process it for us.

On to the bank tomorrow AM to find out if they will give us the necessary account.

(I hope I'm doing this right?)
