I love spam!

Where did the internet expression "spam" originate?

I assume from the Monty Python sketch of same name.... "spam spam spam spam spam spam bacon spam eggs spam spam spam....." etc ad nauseum.

Or is it something else like an acronym maybe?

Silly subject now that googlebot has *finally* taken his deepcrawling self outta my server box....

I should really send him a bill for rent.

Nope, not an acronym - AFAIK, it came from Monty Python, from a scene where there are Vikings singing a chorus about spam, whilst the lady in the sketch tries to get something to eat which doesn't contain spam.

Like email, where all you seem to get is unsolicited email, she wasn't successful in getting a meal that didn't contain the chopped-meat.

Try the fount of all wisdom for "spam origin" and read the first one, the guy has done a lot of work tracing the origin

Thanks Cornwall, looks like I was right on my first assumption about MPFC...

Interesting article!
