That said, take a look at how folks predicted the 21st century 100 years ago (think bubblegum cards). [wired.com...]

Steampunk hoverplanes? OK. There seemed to be (just like today) the common idea that the way things are done now would just naturally continue to be the same but with some leaps of tech advances. I mean, if we have worker transport hovering at the rooftop, we would continue to need chimneysweeps, right?
