Click to the playlist. I posted the sound check (Franklin's Tower), a cover of Fly Like An Eagle, an original song called Walk Down, a cover of Aeroplane, and an encore jam in D minor - they call it Dog. And yep, they won.
Young Matt does a good job of holding the guitar and vocals together, in fact they all do a great job!
You must be a happy Dad! ;) Unless your's is the drummer (no volume control)...... LOL...

Thanks tbear. Matt is mine. He's the alpha dog in the band. He knows what sound he's looking for. He's been through a couple of bands over the past year or so before getting with this drummer and bass player. Matt and the keyboard guy have played in front of people before. The drummer and bassist have played at church where everybody loves you anyway, but otherwise, this was their first public gig. Couldn't really tell it though. Surprisingly tight for their first gig. Even Matt, who is his own worst critic, only found a few minor flaws, such as his guitar was out of tune on the sound check (it was but nobody noticed but him and me. :))
And oh, I let him crank it up at home while he's practicing.

I'm not positive, but I think I like Walk Down best. It's the band's own song. Matt and the keyboardist just finished up the words the day before they played it live. They were hoping it would come out ok. In the unbiased opinion of Matt's father, I'd say it did.

Walk Down is excellent. Wrote it himself.......? cool 8)
I've been a muso most of my life, and I'd say that really was good to watch. Well done!
I wish my Dad was as cool as you, all those years ago....... LOL.

Hot damn, lawman, that's not half bad :) I was at YouTube looking for something else [youtube.com]* when I remembered that I'd never given son a listen.
The final long jam is currently playing in the background.

Thanks Lucy. Not exactly "Come Landlord . . ." but I'm glad you like their music. :)
I've been listening to him practice at home and play together with his friends for the past 4 years. Other than being his father and being proud of him, I was never particularly impressed with his personal progress or his bands. But this time the band chemistry is different and their music is an order of magnitude better than what I'd heard before. And I really like that funky bass guitar player.
Matt's graduating this month. The others still have a year of high school left.

He's very talented, they seemed to have it together enough to be having fun with it. Better than high school age bands I recall seeing.
