Whew.

Advantages of filling out forms rather than using a software package:
#1 You don't get 3/4 of the way through before they tell you you're not eligible to use this software. (Repeat with other vendors, leading to vague mental association with recently coded game in which mock status bar chugs along happily for about 50% of its length-- exact figure is randomized-- before mock-crashing.)

Disadvantages of filling out forms:
#1 "OK. So when you say Line 5, you don't mean the immediately preceding line 5 of the form I'm currently on, but line 5 of some entirely different form that I will have to identify on my own."
#2 "Can you give me a hint? If you refuse to accept information in this location, is it because I'm clicking in the wrong place, or because you're going to calculate it yourself when the stars are in the proper alignment?"
#3 "And when you say 'within seconds', you really mean 'within 24-48 hours'. Got it."

Sounds like healthcare.gov :) Or any of hundreds of other sites on the web!

The only "form" that I will fill out on the web these days is: USER NAME and PASSWORD. All other forms seem to have been written by oviparous extraterrestrials on vacation on the third rock from the sun, from hither and yon, as most of them truly lay eggs.

Or by the IRS, though this may be a purely academic distinction.

PS: Turns out that "within seconds" and "within 24-48 hours" both meant "in an hour or so".
