Today, Facebook announced differentiated "Like" buttons to help categorize and differentiate different social media signals.

After exhaustive beta testing done in California's San Fernando Valley, the following Like buttons will be rolled out today:
- Like, Totally (signifies extreme agreement)
- Like, So Bitchen (signifies strong agreement, but less strong than Like, Totally)
- Like, OMG (signifies agreement, with surprise at the agreement)
- Like, I'm Sure (signifies sarcastic agreement)
- Like, Gag Me with a Spoon (signifies dislike- FIANLLY the equivalent of an "Unlike" button)
- Like, Grody to the Max (a stronger disagreement than Like, Gag Me with a Spoon)

Sounds like an April Fool, but it's after midday.

In the UK, an April fool joke is revealed by shouting "April fool!" at the recipient, who becomes the "April fool". A study in the 1950s, by folklorists Iona and Peter Opie, found that in the UK, and in countries whose traditions derived from the UK, excluding Australia, the joking ceased at midday.[12] A person playing a joke after midday is the "April fool" themselves.[1]

Some timezones haven't reached midday yet.

Google will top this with a +2 and +3 button.

Some timezones haven't reached midday yet.
It is 22:14 in the UK
That will make California -8 hours, making it 14:14

Either way, the fooler is the fool, for people over here.

Good thing some of us aren't over there then.
On this side of the pond, we pride ourselves on refusing to restrict ourselves to stuffy British traditions. :)

LifeinAsia - I think that differentiated buttons would be great to have. I've been wanting one to signify something like...

Like, That's such a Bummer I can't bring myself to say "Like", but I do like you and I'm really sorry to hear that your house burned down.

Like, bird chit on my windshield.
Like, don't bring me down.
Like, uh...
Like, on my last nerve!

How cool would it bee that a short comment was user available? I might actually click on one of those!
