Has there been some sort of Crown Directive banning the subjunctive in the UK? I see the same usage all the time in Terry Pratchett and it drives me ###.

The current UK National Curriculum requires that the subjunctive be taught to 10-11 year olds.

That said... I don't think I've met too many people here who even know the word "subjunctive". (Unless they studied Modern Languages past the age of 16).
