Ive been on a concorde, but it wasnt flying it was at duxford air museum. It had loads of cool gadgets on it for reading radiation levels and stuff.

They are really cramped inside.

I can confirm that Concorde was indeed making money for BA up until a couple of years ago, but in the current climate I'm afraid not.

I've sat in the cockpit also - it is so antiquated! The instruments are all so, well, 60's!

Interesting factoid: Concorde's fuel tanks leak when it is at rest and they have piles of sand on the hangar floor to soak it up. This is due to the fact the whole bird expands in flight (up to 6 inches in length I think) and contracting again. This was before the new kevlar tank linings anyway - things may be different now.

Gravel rash? sounds painful.

Seriously though thats an interesting fact, is it legal to allow a plane to leak fuel?

I saw the things a thousand times while living in London and never gave it another thought. But the one time it flew over my house here in NZ is a sight I'll never forget. Absolutely majestic.

It's a shame to see it go, and a tragic shame that it took 113 souls with it.
